SIR – having read the article that local weatherman Paul Damari will be retiring in September, I have written this poem for him, as I note that one of the things he wants to do in his retirement is write poetry:
Ode To The Local Weatherman
So I read in the Worcester News Mr Paul Damari
That when you retire you would like to write poetry
Take lots of photographs and write a book about your life
And spend some time with your devoted wife
The weather forecast won’t be the same without you
Now that you are moving on to pastures new
I will miss you in the Worcester News and your banter on the BBC
When you tell us what weather we are likely to see
A third Poet Laureate for Worcestershire we seek
So if this of interest don’t forget to take a peek
At the Worcestershire Literary Festival in 2013
We really hope you will be keen
If you would like to know more please get in touch
We’re very friendly and we love poetry so much
info@worcslitfest.com is our email address
We’d love to hear your poems we must confess!
