SHOPPERS in Worcester got to try their hands at 3D artwork outside the Guildhall on Saturday.

City artist Sarah Millin set up an outdoor studio in front of the historic building where passers-by could have a go at improving a 3D textile sculpture. They were also invited to create their own pieces of art to take home. The project was inspired by the National Trust’s historic Greyfriars House and Garden in nearby Friar Street, where the sculpture will be displayed when it is finished.

Greyfriars is currently playing host to a contemporary art exhibition called Everything Old Was Once New, which features work by artists including Alek O and Tracy Emin.

Rachael Trimm, house and visitor services manager at Greyfriars, said: “We wanted to celebrate this with the people of Worcester, so what better way than working with a local artist to create a textile piece inspired by the beautiful house and garden.”
