YOU may have heard about a bull in a china shop – but how about a horse in a post office?
Fortunately, 12-year-old cob Megan is better behaved than the aforementioned bull during her weekly visit to Martley post office for carrots and mints.
Counter clerk Louise Wickens usually stops traffic when she takes the horse, who she rides for villager Louise Masters, into the store.
The 23-year-old said: “She is as good as gold. If people are in the post office there is usually a moment of silence followed by a lot of laughter.”
Inside, postmistress Mary McGahan feeds Megan her treats, usually stopping other customers in their tracks.
Miss Wickens said: “We have had people pull into the car park because they just cannot believe what they are seeing. Just the other day a couple pulled over and said they had to stop and have a look.”
