Man who fell from bridge over City Walls Road dies

A MAN who fell from a Worcester footbridge yesterday afternoon has died.

Paramedics battled to save the life of the 42-year-old who plunged from a footbridge over City Walls Road at about 3.40pm.

The man, named as Christopher Handley from Dines Green, was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead.

Inspector Paul Crumpton of West Mercia Police said officers were treating the death as unexplained however they were not looking for anyone else.

He appealed for witnesses to come forward and call police on 101, quoting incident number 384-S-070812.

Often walked across bridge and thought of how horrible it would be if you fell off or a motorist if someone landed in front of you. R.I.P. whoever you are

No one knows what torment you were going through and I shall think of you each time I walk over that bridge.
