A ROBBER threatened to hurt a vulnerable man if he did not hand over his money.

The victim, who is in his 40s and has severe learning difficulties, was walking through Sling Lane playing fields in Malvern on Monday, July 30, at 2.30pm when he was approached by a man.

The man - described as white, 6ft tall, aged 20 to 30, with short black hair and a small beard - held the victim by the arm and threatened to hurt him if he did not give the offender cash.

The victim handed over some money and the robber, who was wearing blue jeans, a grey top, black hooded jumper and white trainers, left the playing fields in the direction of Pickersleigh Road.

PC David Wise, from Malvern Police Station, said he believed the offender may have targeted the victim in the past.

He said: “This is a despicable crime in which a vulnerable victim has been threatened with violence and left in fear of his safety for just a small amount of cash.

“It is thought that this man may have taken money from the victim in the past and has previously given his name as John, stating that he lives in London but visits Malvern at weekends.

“If you know who this man may be from the description or information given, then please call us. It is vital that we catch him before he does it again.”

Anyone with information about the robbery should call PC Wise on 0300 3333000, quoting 631-S-010812, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
