THIEVES have stolen a number of World War II medals from a home in Worcestershire.

The medals, including the 1939 to 1945 War Medal, the 1935 to 1945 Star, the France and Germany Star and the Defence Medal, were snatched from a home off School Road in Hampton near Evesham, during the burglary on Thursday, August 2.

Some jewellery was also taken during the theft, which took place between 11.40am and 1.20pm.

Police are now appealing for information, Detective Constable Verity Farr said: "Understandably, these medals have immense sentimental value to their owner.

"They have his name and service number on them so if you have recently been offered or bought any of the medals mentioned above, either individually or as part of a set, we would very quickly be able to identify if they are the ones we are looking for.

"This burglary happened during daytime hours and there is a chance someone in the local area may have witnessed something which could help us with our investigation.”

Anyone with information can call the police on 0300 333 3000, quoting 305S 020812, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
