A CYCLE event being held to raise vital funds for a children’s hospice has been given a boost by an insurance firm for the third year running.
Acorns Children’s Hospice has the backing of Legal & General again this year to sponsor the Severn Valley Cycle Challenge being held on Sunday, August 19.
Lucy Shepherd, Acorns international treks and challenges officer, said she was delighted to have the backing from the company.
She said: “It will ensure that we raise the maximum funds for the vital support of our life limited children.
”We support more than 630 children and 880 families, including the bereaved, in our three hospices.
“It costs £7,500 per day at each hospice, and we rely on donations, fundraising and events such as the Severn Valley Cycle for the majority of our income.”
Jay Bailey-Stephenson, from Legal & General’s insurance business said: “Legal & General is pleased to be supporting Acorns Severn Valley Cycle Challenge for a third year.
“We take our community involvement responsibilities seriously and supporting this event shows commitment to Acorns Children’s Hospice.”
Cyclists can take a 20-mile route from Bridgnorth or a 10-mile route from the Severn Valley Country Park to Bewdley.
Participants can celebrate their achievement with a train ride on the Severn Valley Railway . For details visit acorns.org.uk or call 0845 9850405.
