Have a heart for charity shops

BRITISH Heart Foundation shops are launching a new stock donation campaign this September – the Great British Bag-athon.

The shops, including the one in Mealcheapen Street, Worcester, are each hoping to receive 1,000 bags filled by locals.

Every bag that is filled is worth on average £20 to the British Heart Foundation and can make a huge difference, helping the BHF to continue its life-saving work locally.

Caroline Usher, regional manager of the Worcestershire BHF shops, said: “I’d like to encourage all Worcestershire people to get involved and join in the Great British Bag-athon. BHF shops sell 90,000 items daily so donations from the local community are vital.

“We’re always keen to receive Worcestershire’s lovely clothing, accessories, handbags, shoes, books, CDs and DVDs so get filling those bags now.”

Myself and my neighbours recently received BHF bags through our letterboxes, and duly filled them and left them out for collection (on the right day). 3 days later, the bags were still on our doorsteps, and were eventually brought back in. I hope BHF have improved their collection technique, else this Bag-a-thon won't get them far!
