Sex attacker admits Worcester assaults

A MAN has admitted to sexually assaulting two women in separate early morning attacks in Worcester.

Thomas James Clark of Barbourne Road, Worcester, pleaded guilty to charges of kidnap and sexual assault during a hearing at Worcester Crown Court .

He admitted to kidnap with intent to commit a sexual offence in relation an assault committed at about 5.30am on Tuesday, April 24.

A woman was on her way to work and was waiting at the bus stop on Barbourne Road near Gheluvelt Park when Clark walked past her twice before grabbing her around the neck from behind and dragging her several yards towards Barbourne Lane.

When a car passed, he let her go and ran into Gheluvelt Park.

The 21-year-old also pleaded guilty to charges of kidnap and sexual assault when at about 4.25am on Sunday, May 6, he approached a woman from behind who was walking along Sansome Walk.

He put his arm around her neck and pulled her to the ground just inside the confines of Worcester Baptist Church, where he sexually assaulted her before walking away.

Clark was remanded in custody to appear for sentencing at Worcester Crown Court in the week commencing September 10.

DC Karl High, who investigated the assaults, said: “This was a worrying series of offences and I am pleased with the early conclusion of the case.

“I am sure it will be a relief to the two victims as they will not now have to go through the rigours of a trial. I hope this plea gives them some sort of closure to their traumatic experiences.

“I would like to thank them for supporting our prosecution and I would also like to thank those members of the public who came forward with invaluable information that has led directly to a conviction.”
