AN exciting autumn lies ahead at Pershore’s Number 8 Community Arts Centre with a mix of events, films, exhibitions and courses all lined up.

Highlights at the High Street-based venue include shows from comedian and broadcaster Mark Steel and wildlife television presenter Chris Packham, plus theatre productions of Michael Morpurgo’s Farm Boy and the Strange Case of Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde.

Musical notes come from Queen tribute band GAGA and comedy with A Black Country Night Out.

The centre will also be beaming in events live via satellite, including the National Theatre Live’s adaptation of Mark Haddon’s novel the Curious Incident of the Dog and the Night-Time and the Last of the Haussmans with Julie Walters, La Sylphide live from the Bolshoi Theatre and the Royal Ballet’s Swan Lake.

Films range from comedies such as Hope Springs and The Women on the 6th Floor to the documentary Nostalgia for the Light and drama Private Peaceful.

There will also be a special preview screening of the previously unreleased extended version of The Shining to make Halloween a truly spooky date on the calendar.

Children will certainly be kept busy, with an enchanting theatre production titled Moon Ladder followed by a creative workshop, screenings of Disney’s latest offering Brave and ParaNorman and weekly youth theatre and after-school dance classes.
