A WORLD famous flautist is joining forces with an acclaimed orchestra next month.

Sir James Galway and his wife Lady Jeanne Galway bolster the ranks of the Orchestra of St John's for their concert at Malvern Theatres on Wednesday, September 5.

Te other soloists performing from 7.30pm in the Forum Theatre are soprano Hannah Davey and Martin Burgess on violin.

They present a programme of works from Bach, including the concerto for three harpsichords arranged for strings and Suite No. 2.

Sir James and John Lubbock, the Orchestra of St John's artistic director, have known each other for more than 25 years and as close personal friends the musicians have collaborated ever since, performing in concert venues across Europe.

Sir Galway said: “It is always a joy to perform with the hugely talented players of the Orchestra of St John's.  Under the direction of John Lubbock, each concert is a musical odyssey and the programme for this year’s UK tour will not disappoint music fans.”

John Lubbock founded the orchestra in 1967, while still a student at the Royal Academy of Music in London, with the aim of building an orchestra that would serve the community, not just add to the music scene.

Ticket prices range from £25.50 to £31.50.
