A MAN wanted in connection with an incident which sparked a firearms alert in the county has been arrested.


Richard Smith, who was the subject of a police media appeal, was detained in Foregate Street in Worcester this morning, after a tip-off from a member of the public.


The 25-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, assault and criminal damage in relation to an incident which happened in Gloucester Close at Malvern on Friday, August 3, in which a woman was assaulted and had her car damaged.


Smith is currently in custody at Worcester police station, where he is being questioned by officers.


Another man has previously appeared in court in connection with the same incident.


Adam Murray, 18, of Bray Avenue in Ledbury went before magistrates in Worcester on Friday, August 10, charged with possessing an imitation firearm, assault and criminal damage.


Murray appears at Worcester Crown Court for a further hearing on Monday, November 12.
