COMMENT: Allah Ditta cemetery incident is disturbing
Ruhal Hussain’s account of his row about his father’s grave with former mayor Allah Ditta is indeed disturbing.
Mr Hussain says Mr Ditta invoiced him for £400 for the maintenance of the grave at Worcester’s Muslim cemetery.
When Mr Hussain disputed the bill Mr Ditta became angry and threatened to dig up the body and have it moved.
Now this exchange may simply have been a misunderstanding that escalated out of control.
But it has nevertheless raised questions about the way the cemetery and its financial affairs are managed.
Should, for instance, a family that has paid £625 in burial fees be asked, a little over two months later, for a further £400 for maintenance?
Regardless of the financial considerations, there is certainly no justification for haranging in so distasteful a way people whose grief must still have been raw.
The families whose loved ones lie in that cemetery need to know that the voluntary committee running it are acting in their best interests.
We would expect committee officers to conduct a proper inquiry into this incident and make their findings public.
Only full transparency will be enough to put Muslim families and the wider community at ease.

Lets see if he is brave enough to take action against Allah Ditta as he has broken the City Council's code of conduct especially
'Citizens must not be violent, abusive or threatening to Councillors or Officers and
must not wilfully harm things owned by the Council, Councillors or Officers.'
