SCISSORS are believed to have been used in an attempted stabbing in Worcester.

Police want to speak to Ian Burrows following the attack at Magg’s Day Centre in Charles Street yesterday.

An altercation took place between two men visiting the centre at about 8.30am.

One of the men took out what is believed to be a pair of scissors and attempted to stab the other man.

A woman who tried to intervene was also struck and suffered bruising to her wrist.

Detectives are looking for 40-year-old Mr Burrows, of no fixed abode, who is 6ft, thin and has long, dark brown hair. His front teeth are missing.

DI Jon Wallis of Worcester CID urged anyone who saw Mr Burrows not to approach him, but to contact police immediately.

He said: “Thankfully, neither of the two people assaulted were seriously injured, but this is clearly a worrying incident and we need to find the person responsible as soon as possible.

“The results of our initial investigations suggest we need to trace and speak to Ian Burrows: we believe he can help our inquiries.

“Mr Burrows is homeless, but a well known face in Worcester; if anyone has seen him in recent days, we would like to hear from them via the non-emergency police number 101.

“I would recommend that if you do see him, please do not approach him but contact us on 999 straight away. I would also like to appeal directly to Mr Burrows himself to get in touch with us immediately.”
