MORE than 100 singers stunned shoppers when they made a surprise appearance in the streets of Worcester.

Members of the Worcester and Droitwich Rock Choir came together to perform an upbeat and impromptu version of Dancing in the Street during a flashmob outside the Guildhall .

Afterwards, they took to the stage to lead a singing workshop for willing and eager members of the public as part of the Worcester Music Festival.

Helen Just, leader of the Worcester and Droitwich Rock Choir, said: “It was an honour to be asked to perform and be a big part of this local community event.

“The members were particularly excited about the flashmob and are totally liberated now that they’ve done it.

“The members are fantastic – all local individuals who simply love to sing.

"They all made sure they didn’t book a holiday so they could take part in the festival and they’re on such a high now because of the terrific audience we had. Rock Choir is about making people happy and I know we’ve achieved that.”

Rock Choir is the UK’s original contemporary choir and is known for singing catchy, up-beat tracks with no audition and no requirement to read music.
