EVEN though they didn’t have a Wimbledon-style retractable roof to keep them dry, the raid didn’t stop 30 young people enjoying a summer course at Mathon, Cradley and Storridge Tennis Club. Coaches Alex Moss and Mike Buck from Abergavenny Tennis Club introduced basic ball skills to children as young as four, and improved the techniques of the more experienced players. The tennis club began life in the 1980s, set up by an enthusiastic group of players from the three villages. Today it is thriving, with about 90 members.
