A WALKER who dislocated both knees man after falling at the southern end of the Malverns range yesterday was airlifted to hospital.

The call came shortly before 1pm and two ambulances and a fire engine were sent to the scene.

They had to park at a quarry car park, but a helicopter air ambulance from Cosford in Shropshire was able to land on the top of the hill near the patient.

Ambulance service spokesman Chris Kowalik said: “A man in his thirties was walking with a friend when he fell, apparently dislocating both knees. Our control room was told he managed to pop one of his knees back in, but he still needed help and was in a great deal of pain.

“The man was fully immobilised and was given pain relief and was placed onto a specialist stretcher. The air ambulance crew, with the help of a member of the Hazardous Area Response Team and its specialist equipment, the fire service and the patient’s friend, carried the man to the waiting helicopter which flew him to Worcestershire Royal Hospital where, on arrival, he was in a stable condition.”
