Search on after man falls in river at Bewdley

POLICE have launched a missing person inquiry after a man was seen to fall in the river at Bewdley.

Officers, helped by fire crews and the Severn Area Rescue Association are searching the river Severn. The search was called overnight between Friday and Saturday and is still continuing.

West Midlands Ambulance Service can confirm that it was called to an incident on the River Severn at Bewdley during the early hours of Saturday.

An ambulance, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), paramedic officer and paramedic in a rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews were called to reports that a man was in difficulty in water near Load Street in Bewdley at 3am.

“The specialist HART team was called to the scene and worked alongside the Fire Service and Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) to search the water and surrounding area.

“After two hours at the scene, ambulance crews were released as police officers continued their search of the area.”
