Father attacked man outside pub
A FATHER who punched a man in an unprovoked attack outside a Worcester pub has walked free from court.
Scott Humphries, aged 20, of Rose Avenue, Worcester, admitted assaulting Daniel Turner and being drunk and disorderly in two separate incidents when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court .
Police were called about 1am on August 18 after reports of Humphries shouting at a group of people outside Subway in the Cross, the court was told.
Sarah Stock, prosecuting, said at an earlier incident on May 6, Humphries had thrown a punch at Mr Turner outside the Brewery Tap pub in Lowesmoor.
CCTV footage shown in court showed the assault taking place just before 3am, which left Mr Turner with a small cut and bruising to his left eye and a swollen hand.
In his defence, Chris Hilton said that the brawl followed an incident between Humphries’ uncle and a friend of Mr Turner’s in the pub earlier on in the evening.
“Humphries thought the complainant was responsible for what had happened in the pub,” he said. “He very much regrets it. It’s wholly out of character.”
Magistrates gave Humphries an 18-month conditional discharge, ordered him to pay £100 compensation and £85 costs.

any particular reason why the 'father' element of this story is so important?
