A CHARITY event organised by young people in Worcester raised just under £200 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The charity music festival took place at the Pavilion in the Park in Cripplegate Park and was organised by youngsters taking part in Engage 4 Life, a Government-funded six-week scheme aimed at 15 to 17-year-olds that took place during the summer holidays.

The group of eight young people organised the festival, which focused on performances from local youth bands and artists and also included a bouncy castle, book sales and a raffle.

Stuart Jones, who was in charge of the group, said: “It was a great success, it went very well. I’m immensely proud of them to put on an event like that in two weeks.

“From a group of people who didn’t really know each other, they worked really hard and were very dedicated for six weeks.”

What a fantastic story, and what great kids.

And well done Worcester News for bringing this kind of news to the public's attention. I feel these young people are way more typical of their generation than people might think.
