A MOTORCYCLIST was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash near Worcester yesterday.

The incident happened at 10.20am on the A4103 in Bransford when a motorcyclist and a car travelling in opposite directions collided near temporary traffic lights close to Bransford Golf Club.

Two air ambulances were called from Cosford and Strensham and police closed the road between Chapel Lane and Bransford Road in both directions for more than three hours.

The male motorcyclist, in his 30s, who suffered a head injury and potential chest and spine injuries, was airlifted to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The driver of the car, a 19- year-old woman, was taken by ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Hospital, with minor injuries.

After several hours of traffic disruptions, the road was reopened at 1.38pm yesterday.

An accident waiting to happen, the temporary traffic lights should never been placed just the other side of such a dangerous bend, the site of several previous collisions. The traffic lights should have been placed the Bank House side of Chapel lane thus giving motorists a better view and warning of these road works. You only have to look at the number of tyre skid marks on the approach to these road works to know they must have been positioned in a very dangerous situation, why the Highways Agency or the Police Patrols have not put recommendations forward to have them moved is beyond comprehension, especially as there has been a fatality at temporary lights at this location last year.

i would agree 100% with pettifor -especially when these roadworks have taken weeks to replace 50 m of pipe and never seem to being worked on ....

Police spending too much time doing accident scene investigation to be bothered with such tawdry activities such as paroling. CSI West Mercia much more fun.

They have now moved the road works to the Bank House Hotel and have done exactly the same thing with the traffic lights. They are positioned on a blind bend just round the corner on the Leigh Sinton side the hotel entrance.
They can't learn the lesson of just a few days ago, what idiots.
