AN abusive phone call to another mother has landed a woman from the Ronkswood area of Worcester with a restraining order.

Lisa Warner, aged 33, of Westminster Road, was found guilty of making a grossly offensive call to the mobile of Micheal Bradley on Thursday, June 14.

As a result Warner has been banned from contacting Mrs Bradley as well as her husband and children. Sarah Stock, prosecuting at Worcester Magistrates Court , said Mrs Bradley “received a barrage of verbal abuse” and there was a racial element to the call, with Warner insulting her mixed race children.

“She phoned her on her landline and withheld the number,” she said. “The phone call turned nasty and she said they were both nasty to each other, but accepts the call would have caused harassment, alarm or distress.”

The call was overheard by Mrs Bradley’s father Eric Abbots and her friend Fiona Boyce. Mark Sheward, defending, said the dispute between the pair dated back several years to an incident in which the women’s children had to be separated during a set-to at their nursery school.

Mr Sheward said: “She phoned to clear the air and say, ‘Can’t we just learn to ignore each other?’ but it degenerated into a slanging match. She was abused as much as she was the abuser. Inappropriate comments were made but she doesn’t recollect saying anything of a racial nature.”

He said: “This was not a one-sided conversation but one of them chose to call the police and she got arrested for it.” Warner was also fined £150 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a victim surcharge of £15.
