A YOUNG footballer got the chance to meet his heroes and live out a dream after winning a competition.

Charlie Miles, who plays for Droitwich Spa’s under-eights team, netted the chance to be the away mascot for West Bromwich Albion when they visited Craven Cottage to face Fulham on Saturday.

The seven-year-old applied for the chance to step out onto the pitch by explaining how he played football for his local team, was a huge Albion fan and had recently got his first full replica kit complete with his name and age on the back for his birthday.

As an aspiring goalkeeper, he got the chance to chat with his hero Ben Foster as well as meeting all the players after having a tour of the ground with his dad Nick and brother Ellis.

His mother Kate Miles said: “Charlie held hands with the captain Jonas Olsson and came out of the tunnel to huge applause. He shook hands with all the players. He had fulfilled his dream.”

Charlie also posed for photos and had a kick about on the pitch.
