FIREFIGHTERS at Worcester fire station put their hoses to use in a slightly different way with a charity car wash.

The strapping fire crew scrubbed dirty motors for most of the day and raised more than £600 for the Firefighters’ Charity.

They also arranged about 30 home fire safety referrals, which is where someone from the fire service makes a home visit to advise on specific fire safety for the property.

Crew Commander John Bristow, of Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service , thanked everyone who came down on the day. He said: “We’re really pleased with the amount of money raised for the charity and would like to pass on our thanks to everyone who supported the event.”
