CHILDREN are being encouraged to save their pennies for charity in a creative way.
St Richard’s Hospice has launched the colour and collect boxes to raise for funds towards the £6.1 million required each year to continue their work with patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses as well as supporting their families.
The boxes are available from all of the hospice’s charity shops and the hospice in Wildwood Drive, Worcester.
Adult collecting boxes are already in use and raise about £7,000 each year from loose change.
St Richard’s helps many children through the family support service, including bereavement groups and a young carers’ group, and each year the hospice team supports more than 2,300 patients and family members.
