A MOTHER-OF-TWO kicked her partner in the stomach and bit a police officer’s knee during her arrest.

Samantha Green, of Goodwin Gardens, Evesham, was walking home through the town centre with her partner at about 7pm on Thursday, August 16. Her partner Kyle Price was carrying her one-year-old baby, while her other son was walking alongside.

Witnesses described seeing Green “kicking out” at her partner following a disagreement. The cause of the row was not revealed at Worcester Magistrates Court .

She kicked him “about five times,” said Kerry Lovegrove, prosecuting. “Her partner was carrying the baby and Miss Green tried to get the baby back off him, pulling it by its legs. She was then seen to punch her partner. They walked on again, but there was a further argument which was partly caught on CCTV – although none of the blows was captured on camera.”

Members of the public, however, concerned for the safety of the two children, called the police. Officers caught up with the couple at their home, but when they arrived, the partner said he would not be making a statement about the incident.

However, Green became “annoyed” at the police turning up, and telling her she was going to be arrested. “She said she would not let them take the baby. As her partner went to take the baby, she kicked him in the stomach,” said Miss Lovegrove. Officers moved in to arrest her and as they did so, Green bit one of the officers on the back of the knee. She began spitting at the officers and in the end had to be held face down on the floor said Miss Lovegrove.

Green’s solicitor Oliver Nicholas said he felt officers could have acted differently “as without a statement from the partner, a successful prosecution would have been in doubt.

“She is slightly built, and having an officer sit on top of her was perhaps heavy-handed.” Despite that, he said Green “was very remorseful”.

She was given a 12-month community order with supervision, £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge, and ordered to attend a women’s centre.
