PARALYMPICS medallist Mel Clarke – who lives in Worcester and trained for the games at the Splash Leisure Centre, Malvern – returned to say thank you to the staff who assisted her.
Mel won the silver medal in the ladies compound archery event in the recent games based in London.
She was greeted at the Splash by Councillor David Hughes, leader of Malvern Hills District Council , which owns the centre.
He said: "This was a fantastic opportunity to meet Mel and personally congratulate her on behalf of Malvern residents for the great achievement in winning silver in the archery at the Paralympics.
“I am sure I speak for everybody when I say how very proud we are of this local person rising to the top of her sport, and showcasing so well her ability and determination, and helping to make the Paralympics the great success it was here in the UK.”
Mel lives in St John’s, Worcester, and as well as using the Splash for swimming training to maintain general fitness, she practices archery at the Hill Centre in Upton-upon-Severn.
