PART of one of Worcester’s busiest traffic islands has been closed after questions were raised over its safety.

The Whittington roundabout, which has recently undergone a £1.3million revamp, has come under fire after drivers claimed it left them gambling with their life.

Worcestershire County Council closed the slip road leading onto the A4440 earlier today after monitoring by its officers revealed safety issues.

Changes to road including better signage and a change to the layout will be completed over the weekend and the road will be re-opened on Monday.

Earlier this month your Worcester News spoke to city resident Lisa Ventura, whose car was hit from behind whilst she was stopped at the newly installed junction while waiting to merge with traffic.

She said the new layout is a disaster waiting to happen and warned someone would soon be killed.
