City centre bar closed after part of ceiling falls in

BAR: The Slug and Lettuce. BAR: The Slug and Lettuce.

A BAR and restaurant in a converted church has had to close temporarily after part of the ceiling fell in.

Some plaster masonry collapsed from the ceiling inside The Slug and Lettuce in The Cross in Worcester city centre yesterday (Friday) between late morning and lunch.

A spokesman for the Stonegate Pub Company said: “A small piece of masonry became dislodged from the ceiling at late morning or lunchtime. No customers or staff were injured and the bar has been closed temporarily while structural engineers are checking the ceiling. As soon as it has been deemed safe it will re-open.”
