UPDATE 9.25am - Motorway northbound now cleared with no reports of tailbacks.

THREE lanes of the M5 northbound were closed after a shunt between a car and a lorry.

The accident happened between Junction 7 for Worcester and Junction 6 for Worcester north, closing the middle and outside lane.

Police and ambulance service attended, but the crash was cleared and the motorway running again at 9.16am.

The Highways Agency reported the crash at about 8.12am.

"A temporary closure was placed on the motorway to allow for police and ambulance to attend," said a Highways Agency spokeswoman.

"Lane one reopened at 9.06am and all lanes were later fully reopened.

"No delays are now reported at the scene and traffic is running normally."

An ambulance service spokesman said: "The woman driver of the car was taken to hospital with neck and shoulder pain, for an x-ray."
