Lorry crash shuts Malvern to Worcester road (From Worcester News)

There are tailbacks on the A449 after a lorry and a car crashed

THE Malvern to Worcester road is down to just one lane after a car and a lorry crashed.

Recovery work is still going on and there are queues from the scene of the crash by The Swan at Newlands pub, at the Malvern end of the road.

The crash involving a 7.5 tonne truck and a 4x4 happened at about 9.47am, today.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "The driver of the car is out and being looked after.

"The road was initially shut in both directions, because of the conditions and because emergency services needed access to the site.

"But one lane of traffic was reopened at about 10.23am, to alleviate the queues."

West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended sending two ambulances and a paramedic area support officer to the scene.

Two patients, both male drivers and both with minor injuries, were taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
