What started as a car rally ended up with a Droitwich man cycling a gruelling 7,000ft climb up the Swiss Alps.

Steve Kite, aged 53, decided to take part in a charity rally in aid of prostate cancer.

He said: “It was a James Bond-themed car rally from Northampton to Interlaken, Switzerland, finishing at the cable car station on the summit of Mount Schiltorn, where scenes from the James Bond movie On Her Majesty’s Secret Service were shot.

“But as well as entering a car, myself and couple of colleagues thought it would be a great idea to cycle the Swiss leg of the journey and make the ascent to the cable car station, which was a 7,000ft climb. The ride took us four days and was a fantastic experience, one we will never forget.”

The rally raised more than £110,000 for the charity.
