Toddlers help out in care home garden

A CARE home welcomed toddlers from a nearby nursery to celebrate the opening of its new-look garden.
Youngsters from Pershore’s Stepping Stones private day nursery visited Heathlands Care Home in Station Road and planted some daffodil bulbs at the garden party with residents and volunteers.
Lisa Allen, manager at Stepping Stones, said: “The children always love to visit Heathlands and enjoy talking to and being with the residents.
“Planting the bulbs this time was an extra treat and we hope to return to see the flowers in bloom in the spring.”
The makeover has been led by Pat Catlin, Greenager co-ordinator for Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire’s Fit as a Fiddle project, which is funded by the Big Lottery and encourages older people in the community to enjoy the benefits of gentle exercise through gardening.
The home’s manager, Anita Fletcher, said: “The garden looks absolutely beautiful. We are so grateful to everyone who has helped to make this project such a success.”
