Rooftop protester arrested Rooftop protester arrested

THE man who caused a 15-hour police stand-off during a rooftop protest in the Brickfields area of Worcester yesterday has been arrested.

Officers were called to Walnut Avenue, off Brickfields Road, at 8.15am to arrest a man in his 20s for an alleged breach of court bail and he was finally taking into custody at about 11pm.

The man, who had a light blue hood pulled over his head, had been sitting 35ft up by the house's chimney stack and refusing to move since 8am according to onlookers.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said the man would also be dealt with for offences in relation to the incident.

The road, and others in the area, were closed to traffic while police waited for him to come down.
