WORK has begun to clean up the silt left after last week’s flooding in Worcester.

Council workers used a tank and trailer jet to clean the mess off South Quay and the work is expected to be finished by Friday.

Mark Baylis, neighbourhood team manager at Worcester City Council said: “We’ve got a four-strong team working to wash all the silt off South Quay, using a tanker and trailer jet.

"Based on our experience with previous floods, I estimate it could take four to five days to clear completely.”

The Environment Agency lifted flood warnings on the river Severn in Worcestershire on Sunday morning.
