A FATHER with two children to support could lose his job after he was banned from driving following a crash.

Peter Chescoe, aged 34, of Belmont Road, Malvern, admitted driving with excess alcohol when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court.

The court was told that Chescoe crashed his Volkswagen Golf into a garden fence in Pickersleigh Road, Malvern, after drinking three pints at the Wych Inn after work on Thursday, August 23.

Adrian Jones, prosecuting, said: “Witnesses heard the screech of brakes and saw the defendant’s car, out of control moving along the road.”

A breath test revealed 58mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.

Chescoe had a previous dangerous driving matter recorded against him from 2003, the only driving-related matter on his record.

Mark Lister, defending, said Chescoe, a glazier and window fitter, had not had anything to eat since lunchtime that day which may have been a factor.

He said: “The accident we have heard described came about as a result of a vehicle coming the other way along Pickersleigh Road which caused him to take evasive action to avoid a collision.”

Mr Lister said if the driving ban was kept to a minimum there was a small chance he could keep his job, which supports his children, aged seven months and nine years.

Magistrates banned him from driving for 12 months but he will get a 91-day reduction if he completes a drink-drive course. He was also fined £260 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Should of thought of that before he went to the pub ----why didn't he just park the car at home and get a bus/taxi to the pub ---- simples

So much emphasis placed on him having two kids to support... I guess he wasn't thinking of that when he was paying for those pints, probably around £9-£10?

Never mind then deciding to risk driving home.

And we should sympathise? Don't drink and drive what if he had killer a father with two children to support what would he have thought then. Ah probably not much as he appears to have lost the sensible gene.

It's obviously impossible to prove but I wonder how many of the people prosecuted for drink driving have done it many times before before they get caught? Apart from the serial offenders many people must believe they're ok to drive and only get caught when they crash or cause death or injury. To use his kids to try and get off a ban is disgusting, he never gave them one thought when he downed the pints and put the keys in the ignition did he!

I have no sympathies whatsoever....if you're going to drink then don't drive!
