CAKES, coffee and chatter helped groups across Worcestershire raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Staff at Reeds Rains estate agents in Foregate Street, Worcester raised more than £300 with the help of year 10 GCSE food technology students from Christopher Whitehead Language College who provided the cakes.

In Hallow, near Worcester, it felt like the whole village turned out to help raise £879.22. Villager Madi Palma will combine the money raised with sponsorship for a half marathon she is doing on Sunday, October 21.

The 24-year-old decided to take part in the event in memory of her late father Osvaldo Palma who died eight years ago and to thank Macmillan for the help and support they gave her family. She has already raised £1,176.22 in sponsorship.

Intrepid rowers Vickie Brown, Fraser Blunt, Laura McIntyre, Dave Andrews, Dave Harper, Simon Homer, Azhar Kholwadia and Joe Keaney were taking part in the npower cross-Channel challenge, which has raised £32,000 for Macmillan. Something they completed in seven hours 55 minutes.
