A GROUP of historical re-enactors took to the Malvern Hills in full costume for a fund-raising sponsored walk.

Passers-by enjoying a stroll were astonished to see a mediaeval monk, parliamentary officer and other figures from the past striding across the peaks.

The walk was the brainchild of Elizabeth Voisey, who wanted to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

She was joined by friends and colleagues from re-enactment societies the Woodville Household and the Sealed Knot.

She said: “Everything we wear is fully authentic for the periods we portray – except for our modern footwear which we opted for on health and safety grounds. The walk took us just over six hours and was tremendous fun, if a bit tiring.”

Also taking part were Pat Patrick, Sue Dudley, Stephen Dudley and Chris Adams.

The walk raised more than £300 and donations can still be made at justgiving.com/ ReenactorsMalvernChallenge or by textingt RMCH87 plus donation amount to 70070.
