THE gruesome past of the University of Worcester’s City Campus - once the city’s infirmary - will be resurrected at two Halloween events.

Families are invited to The Infirmary, the brand new exhibition at the campus in Castle Street, on October 31 from 2pm to 6pm, for an afternoon of gory goings-on.

Craft activities suitable for younger visitors and families will be taking place throughout the afternoon, including the opportunity to make sinister, severed fingers or eerie eyeballs.

Tours of the hospital’s nooks and crannies will feature spooky stories of infirmary ghosts and horrible hospital histories.

Visitors will be treated to a display of 18th Century surgery at 2.30pm and a medical debate featuring characters from the former infirmary at 4.30pm by members of Discover History in full costume.

For those wanting to delve more deeply into darker subjects, university lecturer and author of The Devil: A Very Short Introduction, Darren Oldridge, is giving an illustrated talk at 7pm on the same day.
