A VOLUNTEER at Worcester YMCA has been shortlisted for a national award.

Jemma Masterson is nominated in the young volunteer of the year category for the YMCA Youth Matters Awards and is calling for local support to help her get to the final stage of judging.

Nominated by her manager, Sarah Harris, the 20-year-old is one of six people shortlisted from YMCAs across England who will battle it out in an online vote.

The three nominees with the most online votes go onto the final stage where they will be judged by a panel.

The young volunteer award recognises people who have contributed time, energy and skills to helping the YMCA.

Miss Masterson said: “It is such a great feeling to be shortlisted for a Youth Matters award. I can’t believe how much my life has changed since coming to the YMCA and now I am up for an award. I am really excited about the online vote and hope everyone will vote for me – to make it to the final judging panel would be amazing.”

The online ballot closes today. To vote, visit ymca.org.uk/awards.

Would have been nice to know what she did/does that contributed to her being short listed?
