Fund-raisers head for the hills

MORE than 100 people of all ages joined together in Malvern to help make a fund-raising walk in aid of Cancer Research UK a big success.

The 14th annual walk organised by the charity’s Malvern committee took place on Saturday, starting from Castlemorton Common and offering participants a choice of three, six or 11-mile routes.

The youngest participant was two-year-old Martha Worth, who completed the shortest route accompanied by her grandfather Ray Worth, who organises the event every year.

At the other end of the scale was Len Wood, who is well into his 80s and kept up a proud record of taking part in the walk in all but one of the years it has been held.

Walkers were assisted by volunteer marshals along the route and refreshments were available half way round and at the finish.

It is hoped the event will raise more than £10,000 to add to the £85,000 it has raised over the years.
