AN Olympic gold and silver medallist is set to help a firework night go off with a bang in Worcester.

Triple world champion rower and former King’s School pupil Zac Purchase will be a guest of honour at the celebration at KGV Community Centre, Brickfields Park, on Thursday, November 1.

The annual event, which takes place from 5pm to 9pm, attracts thousands every year.

Entry is free and as well as the main event, there will be a food village, an entertainment area for children, stilt walkers, live music, fire-eaters and jugglers.

The evening will kick off with an annual football match between the local policing team and youths, with the trophy being awarded by the Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Roger Berry.

Heart FM will have a stage on throughout the evening from the main stage built by LMS Events, with whom Worcester Community Trust has teamed up to host the event.

Other donations have also helped to ensure that entry is free, provided by Safer Worcester, One Stop and Underwood’s.
