WHEN she’s not doing homework or playing with her dolls, little Amber Jacobs loves nothing more than rocking out to her favourite bands.

And the six-year-old from Throckmorton, near Pershore, is using her passion for music for a good cause next week in an attempt to become the world’s youngest DJ.

The Pinvin CE First School pupil is hoping to set a Guinness World Record when she hosts a special edition of The Sunday Morning Service for online station TBFM at the Swan Inn, Port Street, Evesham, on Sunday, October 28, in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Amber – known as DJ AJ – already has a regular slot on the show, where she loves to play tracks from her favourite artists, including Ozzy Osborne, Hang Fire and Black Wolf.

She said: “Radio presenting makes me very happy. I love the songs and introducing them.

“It was difficult to learn how to do it to start off with, but I was only half-way to six at the time and now I’ve got into the spirit of it.”

Her dad Steve, who presents TBFM’s Sunday Morning Service and co-presents its Friday Frenzy show, said Amber had an interest in DJing early on.

He said: “I don’t have any influence over what she plays, apart from censorship. She’s been doing it about six months now.

“She sat in with me on a couple of shows and when she asked to have a go, we let her. She’d bully me out of the chair and we even have arguments over the tracks we play.”

Mr Jacobs said his daughter was equally at home doing activities enjoyed by most six-year-old girls and one of her other favourite artists was Justin Bieber.

Highlights of Amber’s career so far include introducing Doctor and The Medics to an audience of 1,500 people and attending music festivals.

The event at the Swan Inn takes place from 11am and donations to Acorns can be made on the day or via justgiving.com/DJ-AJ.
