A SCHOOL near Evesham is marking a double achievement after it received top marks in two inspections.
Church Lench CE First School has been deemed outstanding by both Ofsted and the Diocese of Worcester.
Inspectors from Ofsted said the school was at the heart of the community and held in high regard by all parents and carers.
They described pupils’ behaviour as exemplary and said most pupils made good progress in reading, writing and maths due to consistently good and outstanding teaching.
The report said the leadership of the headteacher was outstanding and, in a short period of time, she had successfully brought the school and community together with her dogged determination to raise standards, improve the quality of teaching and accelerate pupil progress.
Inspectors said the school needed to work on two areas – raising the reading levels of Romany gipsy children by increasing the confidence of parents to support them at home and ensuring improvement plans contain steps to success that can be measured, and set out specific times by which these should be achieved.
Meanwhile, inspectors for the Diocese of Worcester also praised the behaviour of pupils, leadership and excellent relationships between all members of the school community, as well as between the school, parish and wider community. Head-teacher Anne Freer, who has been at the school for two-and-a-half years, said: “We are thrilled we have gained two outstanding reports. It’s been a whole team effort.”
