Reader Graham Mealand captured this striking photo of electrician David Petford putting the finishing touches to a new lighting project at Great Malvern Priory.

The ambitious £150,000 project is set to shed new light on the building by replacing the existing 50-year-old lights that are no longer fit for purpose.

The work has been carried out over the last couple of months by Gloucester-based contractor Anthony J Smith and was shown off to the Bishop of Worcester, the Rt Rev John Inge, when he dedicated the new lighting at 10.30am yesterday.

The cost has been met by a £75,000 legacy donation, grants and fund-raising.

The project remains slightly short of its £150,000 target and anyone who would like to make a donation should call the parish office on 01684 561020 or e-mail office@greatmalvernpriory.org.uk
