From Fred Bromwich, Vice-Chairman, Birmingham Press Club
Just returned from a sun-kissed cruise along the Danube – blue skies, wonderful scenery and fabulous food.
But there’s still nothing like a brisk Sunday morning stroll along the banks of the Severn with its views of magnificent Worcester Cathedral, the occasional glimpse of a leaping salmon near Diglis weir – followed by refreshments at one of the city centre’s ever-increasing coffee houses.
The Severn, and all the activities that go with it, appeal to both residents and visitors. But there’s so much to like about Worcester, with its compact city centre. I’ve lived here for 20 years now; I love its historical past – the efforts being made to regenerate the central core area, and sporting gems such as the New Road cricket ground, the racecourse and Sixways Stadium.
