A SALON owner in Bromsgrove is to hold a month of events in aid of Breast Cancer UK.

Ms Jane Jones who runs SAKS hair and beauty in Bromsgrove was motivated by her mother Ann Chambers who died of cancer 12 years ago – the same month she opened the shop.

The 43-year-old who has lived in Bromsgrove for over two decades runs charity events every year since her mother’s death but this year decided she wanted to do something bigger.

Ms Jones said: “We do something every year we normally do one event but this time we are doing a whole month.

“My mother did a lot of charity work herself she was always helping other people.”

Local organisations including an independent jewellery company are taking part in the event at the salon by donating 20 per cent of what they earn.

She added: “It is not even older people who get cancer anymore. We can all help each other so that our grandchildrens’, grandchildren will be safer.

“Everybody really wants to help.”

Her mother was 47 when she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and died at 55.

The big charity event is to include a psychic fair with angel cards and tarot readings on Monday, October 20 and a dressing up event on the Friday, October 31 for Halloween.
