MORE Worcestershire companies can get free support under an extended £3.8m regional regeneration scheme.

Following a successful first year, when £1.4m was invested, the Technology Transfer Fund (TTF) has more awards to make now that it covers the entire Central Technology Belt, the high-technology corridor running between Birmingham and Malvern.

Grants of up to £25,000 are available to help with business activities including prototyping, patenting, and product and process development.

Paul Sadler, managing director of Birmingham Research and Development Limited, which manages the scheme, said: "This extension is great news for West Midlands businesses. The TTF has been a huge hit with small and medium-sized companies."

Alan White, chief executive of the Central Technology Belt, also welcomed the funding. He said: "The TTF plays a crucial role in turning ideas into real products, companies and jobs, helping ensure that technology transfer continues to drive local economic renaissance."

The Technology Transfer Fund is a partnership between Advantage West Midlands, Birmingham City Council, Aston University, the University of Birmingham and Worcester-shire County Council.

Eligible companies must work in the advanced materials and medical technologies fields.
