SALLY Gunnell, one of Britain's most popular sportswomen, will be presenting the prizes at Worcestershire Group Training Association's Annual Awards Evening at Worcester Rugby Club on Tuesday, November 14.

The awards evening is held annually to mark the achievements of apprentices in engineering, business and finance, customer service, accountancy, warehouse and distribution.

More than 200 people will attend the ceremony. Through the association, apprentices are employed by local companies and many of the major employers in the area will be present, together with invited guests, parents and staff.

Phil Round, chief executive, said: "This is a very special occasion on our calendar and we're delighted that Sally Gunnell has agreed to be our guest speaker. We're sure she will inspire us and motivate our trainees to succeed in their chosen careers."

Sally is the only woman in history to hold all four major track titles concurrently - Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth - as well as the 400 metres hurdles world record.

Since her retirement from competetive athletics she has developed a new career as a television presenter and motivational speaker.
