KIND-hearted staff at Stock N Lock Self Storage, Lower Wick, Worcester, have come to the rescue of the Daisy-chain Benevolent Fund by offering the charity free storage for donated items at short notice.

Daisychain was on the point of turning donations away because it had no space to store them, but Stock N Lock stepped in and offered free emergency storage for the six weeks that the charity needed.

The charity, which aims to help those suffering within the community by supporting groups who operate in the area, has its head office and shops in Worcester and serves the county, as well as further afield.

Davina Roberts, its head of retail operations, said: “Donations come in from all over the country and we want to take them so that we can help raise money for our chosen charities.

“In this particular instance, three Transit van loads of stock in Oxford were being donated and had to be collected urgently, leaving us with a distribution nightmare.

“Stock N Lock really did come to our rescue, responding straightaway to our call and generously donating space in their new facilities.

“The team there have bent over backwards to help, even opening up on a Sunday night for us, and we are really most grateful to them.”

Stock N Lock’s business manager Carl Larkin said: “Our location in St John’s, by Lower Wick, is easy for motorway access, so it was practical for Davina’s team in terms of getting to us.

“The lockable, secure space we were able to offer is on the ground floor with extended access hours which suited her for collecting and leaving donations. We are happy to be able to help Daisychain. Its work is very important.”

Daiseychain has donated more than £750,000 to charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Children’s Emergency Care at UHNS (Cheethams) and the Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA).
